Academia Oxford
The Academia Oxford is located in Carmona, an old, historically interesting and attractive town (population 29,000) about 30 kilometres from Seville. We opened in 1986 and, although a small language school, we consider ourselves to be a professional, well-run establishment, offering English classes to children from 4 years old up to CAE level.
We mainly teach children and teenagers in modern custom-built premises in the historic part of the town with six large and airy classrooms spread over two floors. There is also an annex in another building just 300 metres away. All classes have computers and interactive whiteboards (EBEAMs). We prepare the younger students for Trinity College London oral exams and the older ones for the Cambridge ESOL exams, especially Young Learners,(Starters, Movers and Flyers), PET, First Certificate and CAE. We are an official centre for the Trinity College, London examinations and are part of the PET Organizing Committee in Seville. As the vast majority of our students are under 18, the successful candidates will need to show ample experience of working with Young and very Young Learners.
A typical timetable would be from 4 o'clock to 8.00 three days a week and from 4 o'clock to 8 o'óclock and 8.15 to 9.15 on two days. We do not work on Saturdays.
We are members of ACEIA, (La Asociación de Centros de Enseñanza de Idiomas de Andalucía) an association of private language schools in Andalusia and also belong to FECEI, (La Federación Española de Centros de Enseñanza de Idiomas), the main national federation of language schools. The welfare of both our teachers and students is a priority for us, so we take an active part in the training courses offered by ACEIA, FECEI and other organizations. The successful candidate will be given a lot of support in general class planning as we feel teacher development, both internal and external, is of crucial importance both for the individual teacher and for the school.
Compensation:
We offer a competitive contract - 1,300 Euros gross a month for 22 contact hours per week - and offer full national health and social security cover. Each teacher is also covered by a private 24 hours a day health insurance scheme which covers work-related accidents and civil responsibility and has a free annual medical checkup. Contracts are for 9.5 months, from mid-September to the end of June and include a 3-day induction period. There are various paid holidays - the school closes for Christmas (two weeks) and Easter (one week). We also close for two days during the local spring fair in May. We also help in finding accommodation in the town, pay 10% of the rent and offer free Spanish classes.
Qualifications:
Ours is a small but expanding school so we need professional, enthusiastic and well-prepared teachers with a University degree and CELTA/TRINITY or equivalent. One year experience minimum, and we are particularly interested in candidates who have experience of working with Young Learners. A working knowledge of Spanish is a plus. Please send photo and CV. We will take up references and hold interviews in Carmona during May and June, and in Oxford early in July.
Candidates must be European Union passport-holders and English must be their first language.
There are 4 posts available.
Oxford will be represented at the annual TEFL Jobs Fair in Cordoba on 19th May, 2012.
